BRANDON LEA

The pursuit of balance, joy, and wonder through creativity.

I'm Brandon Lea. I've had a long love affair with the adornment of the human form, from drawing on action figures with a Sharpie as a child to applying decals to them and eventually moving on to comic book illustration. I specialize in blackwork/black and gray tattoo at Voluta.

Sometimes I would make marks to distinguish characters, and other times to better help broadcast their stories. Most times, I just wanted to make them look COOL. Fast forward a few decades, and I find myself back where I started.

My medium has shifted, and my canvas has evolved significantly. My love for interpreting stories and committing them to characters' skin has only deepened. Above all, I still want to make them look and feel COOL.

Please share your stories with me. Let's create something wholly unique together. Something specifically you. Something to remind you. Something to uplift you and empower you. Maybe something to heal you. Be they racing stripes for the mortal coil or decals for the soul, welcome to Voluta Tattoo.

After decades of fawning over the tattoo as an art form and closely following the career of my brother and mentor, Conan Lea, it seemed only a matter of time before I would be gloving up to apply my hands to this art form. I am no stranger to the world of tattoo, but now my eyes are wide with the new vision of a tattoo artist.

I am a blackwork tattoo artist. Graphite and ink are my first loves. I feel that black and gray tattoo are timeless and elegant, yet I'm glad to apply pops of color to strengthen the visual narrative.

An individual's capacity for change remains one of the great inspirations of my creative life. I've been a giggly child, college student, restaurant guy, art dealer, tech guy, movie guy, and world traveler.

Working to understand the winding nature of the paths in my life has resulted in a profound wonder for the human experience. This self-study keeps me excited to share in my clients' stories and interpret those tales through tattoo.
